Back in February I had my first wedding of the year and what a fantastic start. It was during our coldest spell and snow was being forecast across the South, but we could not have hoped for a more beautiful, bright, glorious day. We started at Sam’s home and captured her getting ready with her two bridesmaids, the natural light was ideal and produced some wonderful results.
Later that morning, I noticed Anthony’s swish new contemporary gaming chair! I knew that Anthony would find it amusing if we got Sam photographed in her wedding dress holding a Xbox controller, so that’s what we did.
The sun stayed out for the whole day, and it radiated through the church windows casting a golden glow to the ceremony. Sam and Anthony sailed through their vows and we captured the entire service using natural light, using a mixture of traditional and reportage style photography.
The sun continued to shine throughout the afternoon, it was a glorious day, but there was still a chill to the air. This became apparent when we noticed the pond in the Italian Garden was still completely frozen over. We whisked around the grounds trying to keep warm, stopping off in the Japanese Gardens and the Roman Gardens for a series of photo opportunities before the sun went down in the late afternoon. I always try to tell a story with my photography, so capturing the grounds and details are just as important for those all important memories.
It was Anthony’s wish to have some photos taken down by the sailing club on Evening Hill and we couldn’t have wished for a quieter, more peaceful location and I was able to capture one of mine and their favourite images from the day.
